Google+ or Facebook

Are you on Google+ yet? Although it is a new Social Networking site, but many people who had used it agreed that it is not "just another social networking" site. Facebook has been dominating the social networking world for quite sometime, and many people are angry with its privacy policy yet still are using it just because there isn't a better alternative to it. Why would I want to switch over to Google+? One would ask. It is not about using an alternative means to connect to your friends virtually. Below are some reasons to try convince you to join Google+.

Google Integration

You probably are using Gmail, and also watching YouTube, and very likely you are using Google to search everyday. Google+ not only lets you share your thoughts-of-the-day, interesting articles etc to your friends, but also everything Google provides; such as Blogger, YouTube, Docs, Picasa and I think you can think of more.

Another great integration is the top navigation bar on most commonly used Google Services such as Gmail and Calendar. It is very tightly bounded to these services that it feels it is part of the whole Google+ Project.

Friend Management

In Facebook, everyone is your friend. You may place them in groups, but anything you post, is still visible to all your friends that you had added. Even if someone has a pending invite from you, they may still see your post.
Google+ allows you to place your friends in Circles. Your friends are grouped into Circles and may exist in a few Circles, which your real friends do. Each Circle is independent with another and anything that is shared with one Circle is exclusive to that Circle only. Therefore, it is safe to grumble about your boss in your Friends Circle and your Work Circle will never know what you had written.

Chat

Facebook users may not too familiar with the Chat function as it is relatively new feature as compared to Google Chat. Google Chat and Google Huddle are more stable than Facebook Chat and they have more features. Huddle allow group chat in an ad-hoc basis which is similar to MSN Live Messenger on the web. You may even do that on the mobile if you are one using an Android Phone.

Sharing

Sharing is not difficult on Facebook. Post any link or video and it will be posted on your Newsfeed. Google+ Sparks allows you to share things even easier. Sparks let you add topics that you are interested in; from news, searches, related blogs and magazines automatically after you spark a topic. All these right from Google+. You do not have to switch tabs or windows to copy and paste the links.
Photos that you just took from your smart phones can be set to automatically share on your Google+. Share it with a certain Circle or to the whole world. You just have to choose it.
